Mind Movies vs. Cyberlink DVD Suite

Recently I've been receiving information about a product called Mind Movies. They just ran a big promotion for the release of the new version of the product, Mind Movies 2.0. It sounds like a great product and I do think that these personalized movies can be an excellent tool for helping you focus on and attach emotional drive to your goals which in turn helps you get what you want.

Mind Movies help us generate emotion and focus on the things that we want. Whether we're talking expensive toys, a nice house, achievement of some goal like a promotion or weight loss, or improving our relationships the principle is the same.

As I was watching the promotional videos and learning about the features of the software, I realized that I had seen a video editor somewhere on my Windows 7 PC. I dug around to find Cyberlink. Turns out that software I already own does pretty much the same thing as the Mind Movies software. So, why choose one over the other?

First of all, one of the main selling features of Mind Movies 2.0 is that it is incredibly easy to use. It is designed for the sole purpose of making these movies. So, every feature, every button and menu item is for this purpose and there's no extra stuff to sort through. It comes with a whole library of ready to use images relevant to the most popular goals people are working on (wealth, health, romantic partner, etc.). It also has this cool feature that let's you make the video opaque and turn down the volume so you can run it in the back ground while you work. The idea being that the great stuff in your Mind Movie is being fed to you subliminally while you do other things on your computer.

Cyberlink on the other hand requires a little more technical savvy. Someone who's experienced with computers and finds most apps pretty intuitive will be able to do just about anything with Cyberlink that Mind Movies can do. The one exception may be the feature that lets you run the movie in the background. Other than that all the functionality is there if you're willing to figure out how to use it. Cyberlink comes with a number of nice transitions, effects and fonts. It does not come with many images. Only about half a dozen were included. No audio tracks are included. Mind Movies offers several as well as the option to upload your own.

So, Mind Movies is easier to use, comes with a stocked library of images and audio and has some features that Cyberlink doesn't. The main reason I can see, without learning both pieces of software in more depth, for choosing Cyberlink is cost. Cyberlink came with my Windows 7 computer. Basically, it was free. Mind Movies costs $97 with an option to continue a subscription service for $37 a month. Since the subscription is optional you can cap the price at $97.

For me personally, I don't mind fiddling with the Cyberlink software. I found that figuring out how to make it all work to create my movies gave me a kind of satisfying sense of accomplishment. It also gave me an even deeper emotional tie to the music and images in the movie because I gave each one more thought than a simple point and click would require. I also know that taking the time to figure something out that takes a little effort to learn is good for your brain. Last but not least, I really like to save money.

The bottom line is knowing yourself and your wallet. The only feature I think I might regret not having is the ability to get the subliminal benefit by playing the movie in the background. However, I'm not entirely convinced that I wouldn't just find it distracting and end up turning it off anyway.
